If you’re feeling bored and need something to distract you, Alexa can give you a laugh with jokes, Easter eggs and puns. Most of them are quite bad - but as people who spend most of our time messing with Alexa, we can share some of the less cringe-worthy things to ask for.

“Alexa, tell me a joke.”

Why are the Middle Ages sometimes called the Dark Ages? - Because they had so many knights!

This is the main command for Alexa jokes - with hundreds of silly one-liners and puns.

Most of them are awful frankly, but there are so many that they’ll occasionally be some fun ones.

“Alexa, drum roll please”

Got some important news to announce? Need to build some suspense for a magic trick? Alexa has got you covered.

“Alexa, tell me a pun.”

How did the telephone propose to his girlfriend? - He gave her a ring!

This is representative of the level of puns you’ll be getting - typical Dad jokes - although some of them are so bad that they did get a small chuckle from me.

“Alexa, tell me a Poem.”

Alexa is never going to become the poet laureate, but some of these are quite amusing.

“Alexa, release the Kraken”

Good for a surprise.

“Alexa, tell me a [themed] joke”

Alexa can also tell a variety of themed jokes, here are just a few:

Science, soccer, tennis, Star Wars, animal, video game, baseball, dinosaur, Shakespeare, food, math, pirate, robot,

“Alexa, give me a prank”

Put that special someone’s milk and cereal in a bowl and let it freeze overnight. Their look of surprise will be frozen into your memory forever.

Alexa is such a joker - she can give you ideas for a variety of pranks. Maybe don’t introduce this one to young kids.

“Alexa, give me a life hack”

Freeze grapes or other small, soft fruits to use in drinks to cool them without watering them down. You could even freeze fruits like watermelon or lemon to add a twist of flavour to your gin and tonic.

These aren’t that funny, but some of them have been genuinely useful. 10/10 would recommend.

“Alexa, beatbox for me”

Perfect for spontaneous rap battles with friends and family.
